Nestled in 15 acres of primary forest, old coffee plantations and gardens at almost 6,000 feet above sea level, Finca San Mateo is immersed in nature just a 10-minute drive away from the cobblestoned streets, shops and world-class dining of Antigua Guatemala.

Heirloom arabica coffee of the Bourbon cultivar has been grown here since 1895. This terroir's unique combination of high altitude, rich volcanic soil, and low humidity make for slow-grown specialty coffee of the highest quality, with brilliant acidity and strong fruit notes.

Rustic paths in the estate allow access to the surrounding forest, ideal for walks, birdwatching, and just  enjoying this beautiful corner of Guatemala. Far in the distance, the silhouette of the volcanoes invites the adventurous to a challenging climb. In contrast with the rugged terrain, the accommodations of this family country estate exude quiet luxury.

Two private homes within the estate are now available seasonally to groups for short-term rental. These homes, each on its own gated sector of the estate, offer exceptional privacy and exclusivity. The estate is not open for visitors and the residences are only available as whole house rentals.

The Manor, the private family residence, is a Palladian-style villa with five ensuite bedrooms, each with a balcony overlooking the forested valley below. Social spaces include a vaulted grand hall, a traditional library, an underground wine cellar and a chef’s kitchen with breakfast space. All social spaces open via French doors to about 3,000 square feet of terraces, gardens and decks with panoramic views of forests, mountains, and the Agua volcano. 

The Hacienda, in the old Spanish style, has six ensuite bedrooms, a formal reception room, lounge, modern kitchen and a formal dining room, all opening to the traditional corredor, a verandah along the whole length of the home. The 3,700 square feet cobblestoned coffee drying patio in front of the house, accesible via a beautiful double staircase, is ideal for gatherings and events.
